  1. Christine - you ARE A SUPERSTAR, but, as an experienced paralegal myself, are you making any money working for a sole practioner? Do you even have health insurance. And how the heck can you afford rent on salry you make, Massachusetts, Boston and surrounding areas are high rent, high cost of livng??? Put it this way, a singe girl, out there on her own, would be living paycheck to paycheck in your position.

  2. Fortunately we live in a time when the value of paralegals has never been higher, and that value is being reflected in salaries and benefits paralegals earn. For instance, in Boston, the median base salaryfor a new paralegal is between $42,963 and $58,763. The median increases to between $52,463 and $67,811 for a paralegal with 2-5 years experience.* Most receive similar benefits as the attorneys they work with. While in the past there's been a perception that paralegals may not make a good living, today paralegals as a group are able to have fulfilling careers and support themselves and their families. In fact, someone I know who works as a paralegal for a local firm is able to support herself and her daughter as a single parent. I think that bodes well for the profession. So whether you work for a solo practitioner or a large firm, remember that the profession can be just as rewarding financially as it is personally.

  3. Congratulations! I've been lurking for a while now and have enjoyed reading your blog. I'm in the middle of a paralegal certificate program myself and have found your blog to be extremely informative. Thank you!
